Memorandum of Association (MoA) also known as the charter of the company is a legal document that describes the reach of the business activities of a company. It is drafted at the time of registering a company. Under the Right to Information Act (RTI), this document is accessible by all on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) portal, who wish to know any details about a company including the company’s name, the address of the registered office, names of shareholders and the distribution of the shares, etc. MoA is the most important document of any company because it states the objectives of the company and also defines the relationship between the company and its shareholders.
Articles of Association (AoA) and Memorandum of Association are always filed together while filing for registration of a company.
