What is Form 16?
Form 16 is a statement issued by an employer to their employees, that shows the Salary details, deductions under chapter VIA, Tax Deducted at Source or TDS and the tax payable or refundable status. You must know, that your Form 16 provides your Salary details to the tax filer, in case of a salaried taxpayer without Form 16, your tax filer will not be in a position to file your Income Tax Return.
Your Form 16 is generally divided into two parts that is Part A and Part B. Part A of the form contains your TDS details and Form 16 is a statement issued by an employer to their employees, that shows the Salary details, deductions under chapter VIA, Tax Deducted at Source or TDS and the tax payable or refundable status.. What is Form 16A?
Form 16A is a statement issued by the deductor to the deductee, that shows the details related to the income other than salary and the Tax Deducted at Source or TDS. If you don’t have your Form 16A, you will never know the TDS amount that has been deducted. To file your Income Tax Return, you need your deductor’s name and TAN Number, without your Form 16A your tax filer will not have these details and hence he/she will not be able to file your Income Tax Return. Your Form 16A is provided to you by your Tax deductor.
